SONG OF PRAISE - Spring Concert 2014
Every April, Surabaya Symphony Orchestra holds Spring Concert. This year was on 22 April 2014 at Shangri-la Hotel. This was also the 80th concert since the founding year of SSO. This timeis special because we were hosting guest musicians from Valley Christian School (VCS) San Jose California, USA in nswer tontheir request. Although they did not answer SSO quality standard for guest performers which is worldwide fame, the intention that VCS showed to work together with SSO was warmly welcomed. Their performance was successful and well contented.
SSO presented the best singers and solo performers, namely Soprano (Coloratura) Pauline Poegoeh, 2nd Soprano Dewi Endrawati Baritone Jusuf Suradi, Bass Sam W. Tong, former SSO piano student whom graduated from BIOLA University in USA. They all had given their best in front of thousands of audience. Also, there were other performances, such as SSO Junior Choir, SSO Student Ensemble, which were wonderful and very enjoyable. From VCS, Soprano Aurelia Vick, 16 years of age, sang and a violinist Amy Junus, also a 16 years old teenager.
Some worth mentioning quality pieces were performed by the choir: "Lift Up A Song of Praise" by John W. Peterson, "Agnus Dei" (Corobation Mass) by W.A. Mozart, "I Waited For The Lord" (Lob Gesang) by F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy, "Kyrie" (Nelson Mass) by J. Haydn, "I'll Walk With God" (Student Prince) by N. Brodsky, and "Worthy Is The Lamb That Was Slain - Amen" (The Messiah) by G.F. Handel.
